1860 Census, Washington Territory, Wahkiakum County, Cathlamet lists James Birnie, Jr. as 26 years of age, living with his wife, Julia Ann Stillwell (from New York).  While I cannot be absolutely certain, this census lists a 2 year old boy, Richard N. Birnie, presumably the son of James, Jr. and Julia.  James' occupation is listed as fisherman, and his origin is detailed as "Russia," although the records of Ben Holladay Dorcy seem to consistently show that most of his brothers and sisters were born in either Fort Vancouver, WA or Fort George, OR,  both locations of Hudson's Bay Co. operations.
