Robert is listed as born in Virginia, though the area later became Tennessee. Nancy Hubbert and William were married in Sevier Co., Tennessee in 1812, so Robert must have been in Tennessee at that time. His is listed on an 1805 tax list in Blount Co., Tennessee and on the 1820 census in Warren Co, Tennessee. In 1830 he appears on the Marion Co., Alabama census. He is listed on a petition to Congress concerning land sales in the Mississippi Territory, west of the Tennessee RIver dated 21 Jan., 1817. His brothers, James, Matthew and Benjamin are alos on that petition. There is a photocopy of the original petition and Benjamin signed for himself and also for his three brothers. He was probably buried on his own land in Marion, Alabama. Robert is listed as a volunteer soldier as a private serving in a company of mounted infantry under the command of Capt. Nathaniel Evans and John Beaird in the Knox Regiment of Hamilton District Militia, commanded by James White, Esq., for the protection of the frontier (United States Territior) southwest of the river Ohio.
Even 'tho he is listed as being born in Virginia; it was in what later (1774) became eastern Tennessee.Nancy Hubbert & William Kerr were married in Sevier Co., TN in 1812, so Robert
must have been in TN in 1812. He was on an 1805 Tax list in Blount Co., TN;
then the 1820 census in Warren Co., TN; and the 1830 census in Marion Co., AL.
He is on a petition to Congress concerning land sales in the Mississippi
Territory, west of the Tennessee River, dated 21 Jan 1817. Robert and his
brothers, James, Matthew and Benjamin are all on the list. However, Erin
Hubbert has a photocopy of the original paper and Benjamin signed for himself
and for his 3 brothers, so Robert was apparently not in MS.
