In the Name of God Amen. I William Woods of the state of South Carolina and County of Pendleton, planter, Being in perfect health of Body and of perfect mind and Memory, Thanks be given unto God, Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament, That is to say Principally and first of all I give and Recomend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I Recomend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the Might Power of God and as Touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this Life I give, Devise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and from First I give and Bequeath to my Son Oliver Woods one Dollar. Anderson County was formed from the South part of Pendleton District in 1826. Records for Pendleton District before this time are in part found in Anderson County.

Both Robert Dowdle, Sr. and William Woods appear on the 1800 Pendleton District census, page 54 (no township listed for either). This shows that both these families were allies years before their grandchildren(Amaziah & Margaret) were married.

William is listed in the Pendleton County, South Carolina, Conveyance Book A, 1790-1792 as published in "The South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research, SCMAR, Volume III, Number 2, Spring, 1975. Date of conveyance, 25 Jan. 1811.

Elizabeth Goff was born 25 Jan 1776 in Bibb Co., AL. She died about 1846 in Bibb Co., AL. Elizabeth married Robert Woods about 1799.
